Villa la Selva was the unforgettable setting for what I can honestly say was one of the most spectacular weddings of the season. Set in the rolling hills of Tuscany, this celebration blended Italian heritage, dramatic baroque aesthetics, and modern editorial storytelling and it was later featured on Vogue Hong Kong!

Katie Hung and Nelson Tam didn’t try to soften Tuscany in October. They embraced it. The red leaves were everywhere — on the trees, scattered along the paths, framing the villa. Instead of working against that intensity, they built their entire aesthetic around it. The result felt strong, intentional, and confident.

This two-day Tuscany wedding was layered and expressive. Katie wore five gowns throughout the celebration, each one transforming the mood of the moment. The energy shifted from refined ceremony to high-fashion editorial to joyful celebration. Every design choice felt deliberate, not just beautiful but cohesive. It wasn’t about excess for the sake of it. It was about creating an atmosphere that felt immersive from start to finish.

What Makes Villa la Selva So Special
Villa la Selva has a rare quality that makes it stand out among luxury wedding venues in Italy. The architecture carries historic character, yet the layout flows effortlessly for modern destination celebrations. You feel both grandeur and intimacy at the same time.

One of the most beautiful aspects of this Tuscany wedding was how naturally the venue supported the baroque theme. The countryside surroundings created a contrast to the opulence of the design, which was inspired in part by Milan’s Duomo during the couple’s first trip together. That intentional bridge between Tuscan landscape and architectural drama made everything feel cohesive.

The October setting elevated the atmosphere even further. The red leaves scattered across the grounds felt almost theatrical, enhancing the jewel-toned palette instead of competing with it. It’s rare to see a couple fully embrace seasonal color like this, and it paid off beautifully.

A Garden Ceremony to Remember
The ceremony was emotional, refined, and unexpectedly joyful. After the vows, fireworks filled the Tuscan sky while a live quartet played a classical cover of Katy Perry’s “Firework.” It was bold, playful, and completely unexpected — the kind of moment that turns into a core memory for everyone present.
There was something powerful about watching fireworks explode above the countryside while classical music echoed through the gardens. It captured exactly what this tuscany wedding represented: tradition meeting modern personality.

What Type of Couple Will Love This Wedding Venue
Villa la Selva is ideal for couples who appreciate history but want to reinterpret it through a modern lens. It attracts those who value design, storytelling, and immersive guest experiences over simple aesthetics.
If you’re drawn to editorial fashion, layered details, meaningful symbolism, and bold themes that feel deeply personal, this venue supports that vision. It allows you to build atmosphere rather than just host an event.
This tuscany wedding proved that when a couple fully commits to a vision, Villa la Selva becomes a canvas for something extraordinary.

My Favorite Photo Locations at This Tuscan Estate
Photographing at Villa la Selva offers incredible variety without needing to leave the property. The gardens are expansive and layered, perfect for dramatic editorial portraits framed by autumn foliage. The natural depth of the grounds allows for both wide cinematic shots and intimate, close storytelling moments.
The bridal suite is filled with soft natural light, making it ideal for quiet getting-ready images. There’s an elegance to the way the light moves through the space, creating effortless, refined portraits.

Even the tennis court added something unexpected and fun. It provided a structured, graphic backdrop that contrasted beautifully with the romantic styling — a reminder that luxury weddings can still have personality.

Why Choose Villa la Selva for a Tuscany Wedding
Beyond its visual impact, Villa la Selva offers space for multi-day celebrations. Its layout works beautifully for welcome dinners, ceremony settings, and reception transformations, all while keeping guests connected in one cohesive environment. It feels exclusive without feeling isolated. Grand without being overwhelming. Intimate without sacrificing scale.
For couples dreaming of a destination wedding in Italy that blends drama, heritage, and refined luxury, Villa la Selva is a venue that truly delivers.
