Planning Your Surprise Proposal in Positano?
Thinking about proposing in Positano? If you’re planning to pop the question, having the right wedding proposal photographer to capture that once-in-a-lifetime moment is absolutely essential! You’ll want someone who knows the Amalfi Coast, understands the light, and can capture the real emotions of the moment without making it feel staged.

Why Hotel Marincanto Is Positano’s Premier Proposal Destination
Hotel Marincanto’s private terrace is one of the best luxurious places in Positano to pop the question. You get a clear view of the colorful cliffside and the sea, but you’re tucked away enough that it still feels intimate and personal.
The first time I photographed a proposal here, I was blown away by how emotional and beautiful the setting felt, without needing much setup because of the famous backdrop of Positano. Plus, if you time it close to sunset, the lighting is unreal.

Why Hiring a Local Wedding Proposal Photographer Is Worth It
When it comes to proposing in a place like Positano, working with someone local makes a huge difference. As a wedding proposal photographer based right here on the Amalfi Coast, I’ve seen how one hour can totally change the vibe (and the photos). Golden hour tends to be the sweet spot, but it varies depending on the time of year.
Having someone local means you’ll get real advice on where to stand, when to pop the question, and how to make sure you’re not photobombed by 20 tourists in swimsuits. I also help scout backup locations in case the original spot is unexpectedly busy. The whole goal is to keep it relaxed while making sure we don’t miss a beat.

Working With a Local Proposal Planner
If you want everything to go even smoother, teaming up with a local proposal planner takes a lot off your plate. I’ve partnered with I Do in Italy & Greece for years, and they’re amazing at pulling everything together without it feeling overly staged or stressful.
They can help with things like:
- Setting up flowers, candles, or champagne
- Timing everything with hotel staff
- Suggesting upgrades like live music or lanterns
- Adjusting plans if the weather decides not to cooperate

They’ve helped couples pull off everything from a full red rose-filled “marry me?” setup to a quiet luxury of white flowers setup. If you want to have a candlelit table and dinner for two, it’s also possible at the Hotel Marincanto! Whatever your style, they are professionals at keeping it romantic, personal and stress-free.
What It’s Like Working Together
Hotel Marincanto is definitely a beautiful spot, but there are also so many other corners of Positano and beyond in the Amalfi Coast that are perfect for surprise proposals or engagement sessions.
When we work together, my goal isn’t to turn your proposal into a big production. It’s about keeping it simple, comfortable, and real. As your wedding proposal photographer, I’ll capture all the big emotions without making you feel like you’re posing for the camera.
After the proposal, a lot of couples love doing a casual photo walk. Whether it’s wandering through the colorful streets, heading down to the beach, or grabbing a gelato to celebrate, it’s a relaxed way to extend the excitement.

What You Need to Know Before the Big Moment
When should you book your photographer?
If you’re planning something between May and September, aim to book 2–3 months in advance. These dates go fast—not just with hotels, but with vendors and local professionals too.
Can we take more photos after the proposal?
Yes, and I recommend it! Most couples love doing a short engagement-style session after the proposal. We’ll walk around Positano or head to another nearby spot—more variety, more fun, and less pressure now that the question’s out of the way.
How long does the shoot usually take?
We’ll usually spend about 1 to 2 hours together. That includes some candid moments right after the proposal, a few posed shots, and then some relaxed photos as you soak it all in!
Do you help keep the proposal a surprise?
Absolutely! I’ll work with you to plan the timing and give you cues so it all goes smoothly. I’ve even pretended it to be a ‘couples photoshoot’ before just to keep things low-key.
