Your wedding day doesn’t have to be the only time you get incredible photos together. When you’ve travelled all the way to Italy, why not make the most of the days leading up to it too?
A pre-wedding photoshoot gives you the chance to explore the Amalfi Coast together without a wedding timeline to think about. You can choose somewhere completely different from your venue, wear something fun, and simply enjoy the experience. Plus, you’ll already know what it feels like to be in front of my camera before the wedding day arrives.
Here are a few ideas I’ve photographed with my couples along the coast.
Take Your Pre-Wedding Photos to the Water
The Amalfi Coast looks pretty incredible from land, but seeing it from the water is something else.
One of my couples booked a yacht photoshoot before their wedding welcome party. We spent some time out on the water, taking photos with the coastline behind us before they headed back to get ready for the evening.
It was relaxed, didn’t take over their whole day, and gave them a completely different set of photos from their wedding. Add some champagne, your favourite outfits, and a little time to enjoy the boat together, and you’ve got a pretty great start to the wedding celebrations.
Explore Amalfi in the Morning
If you love the colourful streets and Italian charm of Amalfi but don’t love the idea of crowds in every photo, go early.
Morning sessions give you more space to wander around and enjoy the town before it gets busy. One couple chose two completely different looks for their pre-wedding photoshoot in Amalfi, including a traditional Chinese outfit that brought another part of their story into the photos.
That’s another reason I love these sessions! You can wear something meaningful, try a completely different style, or bring two outfits without trying to squeeze everything into your wedding timeline.
Have Some Fun in Positano
Your photos don’t need to feel like one long posing session.
Positano is perfect for simply wandering around together and seeing where we end up. We can walk through the little streets, stop for a coffee, head down towards the beach, and take photos along the way.
Treat it more like a date than a photoshoot. There’s no ceremony waiting for you or guests wondering where you’ve disappeared to. We have time to play around, move, explore, and create photos that feel different from the more polished portraits we’ll take on your wedding day.
Explore Somewhere Different Like Sorrento
Your pre-wedding photos don’t need to happen in the same town as your wedding. If you’re getting married in Ravello, we could explore Sorrento. If your wedding is in Amalfi, we could spend a morning in Positano or head out on a boat.
It’s a chance to see another part of the coast while creating photos that feel completely different from your wedding gallery. We can wander around town, pop some champagne, stop somewhere along the way, and simply enjoy the time together. You’re already in Italy, so you might as well make the most of it!
Feel More Comfortable Before Your Wedding Day
This is probably my favourite reason for doing these sessions.
By the time your wedding arrives, we’ve already spent time together. You know how I photograph, I know a little more about the two of you, and you don’t have the nerves of meeting your photographer and being photographed for the first time on the same day. It makes such a difference!
You can relax into the wedding knowing what to expect, while I already have a better idea of what makes you comfortable in front of the camera. That helps everything feel easier when the big day finally arrives.
